Couponing 101: “Your Couponing Personality?”
When we last left off we had discussed the many types of people that “coupon” and the ways it can be beneficial to different groups of people. This week we will be discussing your current coupon personality.
Maybe you’ve heard people talk about couponing or read about it on sites like this and wondered, “What’s the big deal? Why are people getting so excited about saving a few cents?” Good question. Today, I’m going to answer this basic question and hopefully you’ll see why this can be so fun.
Let me start by saying that there is couponing and then there is COUPONING. Let’s look at the different ways you can theoretically use couponing:
Casual Couponing is when you occasionally come across a coupon, throw it in your purse or wallet and if you happen to remember when you’re at the cash register, you use it to save $1 or so. This is what most people do and while you do save small amounts every now and then, it’s hard to be consistent or get excited about this method.
Basic Couponing is when you introduce organization to your couponing habits. This type of person will clip coupons on items they regularly buy, keep them organized, and actually use them when shopping. This type of couponing takes a little more work but is more profitable and is heading in the right direction.
Advanced Couponing is when you maximize your coupons’ benefits to turn good deals into incredible deals. In this type of couponing, you use the basic couponing skills and add concepts such as “overage” (buying one thing to actually make money to use on other items), stacking coupons, and stockpiling as well as taking advantage of sales to get huge savings. But figuring out when all the stars align to find the perfect deal sounds like a lot of work, right?
Actually it’s easier than you think – that’s what this website is all about. I love researching and finding the scenarios that will get you the most out of your coupons.
